More Neighborhood Spring

 Good morning,

We live in a neighborhood of old homes and old gardens.  Watching Spring here is just beautiful.

These trees are in a neighbor's garden, visible from our back yard.

It's cute to watch them watching while their little sister, Lily, chases the birds.  Lily will learn the birds will always "out fly" her!

Smoked Salmon

 Good morning,

Kjell has fired up the smoker for the season.  He made smoked salmon that is just fabulous!

 Here we go....

 He marinated it in cognac and spices first.

 

It smells wonderful already....

He finished it with citrus (grapefruit, orange, lemon) marmalade.

Oh, my, that was good!

Thanks, Sweetie.  You can cook whenever you want to.

Daddy's in the kitchen again!  :)

He cured raw salmon with salt, sugar, dill, and the very best ingredient:  cognac!

Marvelous! 

I published his recipe earlier here.  Back then he used Aquavit (Norwegian shooter) in place of cognac.  I think we all prefer cognac.  :)

Neighbor's Trees in Bloom

Old Fashioned Lilac

 Good morning,

My Mother had a number of lilac bushes along the side of our home where I grew up.  I made sure to plant a similar bush in her memory.  She loved flowers, all kinds of flowers, but I know lilacs were some of her favorites.  

What a lovely way to remember my Mother.
